NapoWriMo Day 1: A quote

I tend to get the prompts at the end of the day and write something - anything - whenever I get the chance, in case I won't get to a computer to get my prompt after the day is done. So, I have the prompt poem and I have the poem I wrote earlier in the day when I just needed to get some thoughts out of my head.

Day 1 "to love yourself, identify with the aggressor. Be fierce." -Maureen Thorson

FIeRcE

You need fire to be fierce.
It's not something you can fake.
Without the passion,
the drive,
the obsession,
there is apathy.
To have something worth fighting for turns even the meekest mice
into lions.

The Chaos

Does everybody feel the chaos underneath the surface?
Just below the skin,
waiting to erupt.
The possibility of sinking
into
the desire for nothingness.
One tear in the skin - the death of a child or spouse-
would break through the appearance of having it together
and release the bubbling mess of desperation
of doing anything to numb the pain
or feel something else
even other pain.
To care so much about someone or something that can be taken so easily is to risk losing yourself.
